Ok. When I go to a doctor, part of me just does not want to listen. However, when Dr. Ginger says something I Will Listen (or drool). Dr. Ginger is the reining Mrs. Virginia U.S. 2013 and will be competing in the Mrs. United States Pageant July 27-31 in Las Vegas. Her platform is B.R.A.K.E.S. (Be Responsible and Keep Everyone Safe) teen safe driving program started by her husband in 2008 after his 2 sons, Jon and James, were killed in a tragic car accident. To date, B.R.A.K.E.S. has put over 10,000 teens through the safe driving program.
The doctor wrote the nutrition & mind-body chapters in the N.Y.Times Best Seller, “Crazy Sexy Cancer Survivor;” a book written by one of her students. I need to check out that book!
Dr. Ginger has been:
Director of Corporate Wellness for Bruton Smith’s Sonic Automotive and Speedway Motorsports (NASCAR racetracks)
Director of Nutritional Wellness for The Cliffs Communities

Since then, Dr. Ginger has devoted her professional life to public health education. She helped to develop the first policy for the “Surgeon General’s Report on Physical Activity & Health for Women,” and today she continues as a consumer health advocate, using her intimate knowledge of the human body, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, and preventive and alternative medicine to weave together meaningful disease-busting consumer education information through her magazine articles, TV appearances and speaking engagements nationwide. She is also an instructor of nutrition and digestive & metabolic physiology for the Health Educator Program at Hippocrates Health Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida; voted the #1 medical wellness spa in the world by Spa Magazine.
Her media savvy and alternative medicine and nutrition expertise has led her to continue her interest in medical stories as a freelance health and medical television correspondent, including assignments with College Television Network, the late Robert Urich on his Emmy award winning television series, “Today’s Health.” In addition, she currently hosts a weekly health segment, “Dr. Ginger’s Kitchen” on Charlotte’s “Fox News Rising,” and has been a consumer health advocate on the national FOX News Channel’s, “Weekend Live.”
She is also the writer and co-host of “Shopping for Optimal Health,” the DVD companion to the New York Times best-selling book, “The Maker’s Diet,” which teaches consumers how to make healthier food choices.
Dr. Ginger has also written her own book, “Know More than Your Doctor about the Healing Powers of Green Juice.” It teaches the reader everything they need to know about how to get started in green juicing and has been very populer among her Twitter followers at @thedrginger.
Dr. Ginger resides volunteers her time and nutritional expertise to the youth; educating high school wrestlers, kids in the Big Brothers, Big Sisters organization and her local chapter of the Boy Scouts. She also sits on the board of the B.R.A.K.E.S. Foundation, founded by Top Fuel Drag Racer, Doug Herbert. Her ultimate goals are to climb the Seven Summits, become the U.S. Surgeon General, become a N.Y. Times best-selling author, and have a show on The Oprah Winfrey Network and The Food Network.
