NEWPORT – The latest two-wheel zero emission vehicle, made by Vectrix Corp., will host a ceremony Saturday from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at 17 Touro St. to celebrate the grand opening of the first Vectrix retail store in the country.
Five of the maxi-scooters will be available for viewing in the showroom and test rides will be offered. Helmets and other apparel will be for sale.
Among the benefits of owning a Vectrix, according to Jeff Morrill, the company’s managing director for marketing:
- Low operating costs: only 2 cents a day.
- Reaches a top speed of 62 mph and offers acceleration from 0-50 mph in 6.8 seconds.
- Has an average range of 40-60 miles on a single charge.
The retail price of the vehicles is $11,000. They weigh 462 pounds, have a 60-inch wheelbase, a 30-inch seat height and seat two people comfortably.
