“SOLAR WORKS FOR YOU” – My First Green Living Guy Book Tour Stop

The New York Solar Energy Society will be hosting a forum that will be my first stop on the Green Living Guy book tour.

The New York Solar Energy Society educates children, families, green workers and the business community about the benefits of energy efficiency and renewable energy. http://www.nyses.org

The forum will be about the economics of renewable energy and energy conservation are in tune with our future jobs if we educate our children today.

Presenters will be:

Christopher D. Hale, President of SunBlue Energy a solar energy systems design/install company based in Sleepy Hollow, NY. Chris will present an overview of Solar Electric (Photovoltaic) Systems and how one can save money by putting one on their roof.

Thomas Gately, CEO of Green Power Solutions.  A seasoned veteran of the NYC solar community, Thomas will speak about the benefits of Solar Thermal/Hot Water

Tom Soden, Sustainable Building Product Sales, ATAS International, Inc.  Dramatic savings come from heating with energy efficient building envelope technology.

To spruce up New York City with even more greenery this spring, the New York Restoration Project has partnered with leading online charity auction site, charitybuzz.com, for the first annual Earth Day Auction. The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
