Earth911.com NYC Launch Party Gives Away Green Lighting Book!

Earth911.com is celebrating the expansion of its staff in New York City!

This event will be a great time to meet up with my co-author Brian Clark Howard and other green media stars.  He will be giving away a signed copy of our book Green Lighting.

  • We threw our NYC Launch Party to celebrate the Earth911.com Editorial Department’s expansion to the city and celebrate the wonderful connections and relationships we’ve already formed since arriving a few short months ago. We are so excited for this step in the growth and refinement of our editorial style, voice, coverage and capabilities. With Editorial only being a little over two years old, our rapid development and work in the coverage of product stewardship and sustainability has been encouraging to say the least.
  • We chose to host our party at Candle 79, an upscale vegan restaurant on the Upper East Side in Manhattan.Candle 79 is an award-winning restaurant and even has its own cookbook. Top celebrities including Alicia Silverstone have cited this restaurant as their favorite in NYC. We were lucky enough to meet the owners and authors of the cookbook, Joy Pierson and Bart Potenza. Both were honored to have Earth911.com at their venue, and they were excited about the possibility of collaborating with us in some of our upcoming pieces.

  • We took a unique approach to “swag” for our guests, and rather than giving out generic gifts, asked our own Earth911.com staffer, Matt Connelly, and his  friend from Connecticut, Sket One, to create customized pieces of art to be donated to lucky party-goers.Both artists used Earth911.com’s logo to illustrate the idea of “Reduce, Reuse and Recycle” by creating art from recycled materials. Titled “one small step in the right direction”, Matt’s piece was made from vinyl, cel vinyl paint, vintage fabric, wood, shoelace.

Additionally, we had a signed copy (a la Brian) of your new book “Green Lighting” as well as a signed copy of the Candle Cafe Cookbook.

  • We were especially excited about the menu, as it highlighted locally grown produce to the fullest.  Our guests sampled seven different hors d’oeuvres that were passed around throughout the party. These were made specially for our event by Head Chef, Angel, who handpicked the ingredients from a local farmers’ market the morning of the party.
  • Last but certainly not least, we had a fantastic group of green writers, editors and talent to fill our intimate space. They came from groups such as The Daily Green, MNN, Care2, On Earth magazine, Huffington Post, and even a former Top Chef contestant.
