How Cool Would it Be To Drive the Nissan Leaf at the NYC Marathon? Way To Cool!

Yes, you heard hear first!!!

I just got word that my co-author of Green Lighting, Brian Clark Howard at The Daily Green that he is going to be in a Nissan Leaf as the pace car for the New York City Marathon.  It’s great to build your own electric car like Nissan has done.  Especially because it’s Built in the United States (batteries to manufacturing). 

The Nissan Leaf being in the NYC Marathon also shows how Lance Armstrong is working to get the Leaf to become part of our culture and way of life.  So Brian say hello to Lance for me!!

I appreciate the fact that Nissan is making this car a reality.  Just like a Toyota Prius hybrid electric car took time to become a million vehicle fleet, so will the Leaf and more.  Why do I say that.  Oops, they all ready sold their current production!  You’ll have to wait for one since they can’t produce them fast enough.  It’s true.  Check it out!

The 100% electric Nissan LEAF Breathe Easy Tour will be hitting the streets of NYC in the weeks leading into the ING New York City Marathon. The Breathe Easy Tour offers New Yorkers a lot of fun, free swag, and a chance to win a new Nissan LEAF. The tour starts on October 25. To spruce up New York City with even more greenery this spring, the New York Restoration Project has partnered with leading online charity auction site, charitybuzz.com, for the first annual Earth Day Auction. The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
