Highest Roadster Orders in Two Years For Tesla Plus $60 Million From Toyota

You heard it!! Tesla is getting $60 Million from Toyota to build their newer electric RAV4.  Plus Toyota bought $50 million in stock.  Toyota and Tesla and totally building EV jobs in the United States.

“We continued to garner high profile endorsements of our industry leading technology and electric powertrain systems,” Musk continued. Tesla Motors signed an agreement with Toyota for the development of a complete powertrain for the electric Toyota RAV4 vehicle including:
1.the battery pack
2. charger
3. motor
4. gearbox
5. and associated software.

Tesla also recently completed all of the milestones for the Daimler A-Class battery development, and are now in the production phase.

“Most recently, we strengthened our six year relationship with Panasonic, announcing that the world’s leader in small format lithium ion cells, has invested $30 million in Tesla.”, says Musk.

In October, Tesla formalized an agreement for the development of a validated powertrain system, including a battery, power electronics module, motor, gearbox and associated software, which will be integrated into an electric vehicle version of the Toyota RAV4. Based on preliminary specifications, Toyota will pay Tesla approximately $60 million for the development services as deliverables are completed. Tesla is currently delivering early Toyota RAV4 EV prototypes.

Tesla and TMC previously entered into an agreement to initiate the development of an electric powertrain system for the RAV4 in July 2010 and TMC purchased $50.0 million of Tesla’s common stock in a private placement transaction that closed immediately subsequent to the closing of Tesla’s initial public offering in July 2010.

The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
