## NY Launches Advanced Energy Center to Cut Emissions and Boost Efficiency in Manufacturing

In a major push toward cleaner industry, the New York State Energy Research and
Development Authority (NYSERDA) has joined forces with leading partners to launch
the Center for Advanced Energy Systems (CAES) Energy Center. Based at Rutgers University,
this new center aims to transform how manufacturers use energy across New York State
and beyond.

### Cleaner Manufacturing Starts Here

CAES was created to help industries use less energy, reduce harmful emissions, and
cut costs—all at once. By offering technical assistance and research-driven solutions,
the center empowers companies to upgrade their energy efficiency while remaining
competitive.

The initiative is part of a broader effort under the U.S. Department of Energy’s
Industrial Assessment Centers (IAC) program. Rutgers, which already operates one
of the most successful IACs in the country, was chosen to host this regional hub.
Its role is to coordinate resources, training, and technical services across multiple
states, including New York.

### Helping Businesses Do More with Less

Through this program, CAES connects manufacturers with expert guidance on how to
modernize systems, from lighting and motors to compressed air and thermal processes.
The goal is simple: help small- and mid-sized manufacturers lower energy use and
emissions—without compromising output.

New York launches a regional energy efficiency center to help manufacturers reduce
emissions and energy costs

With NYSERDA’s support, the center also emphasizes workforce development. Students
and early-career professionals gain hands-on experience through energy audits and
consulting projects. That helps build the next generation of clean energy leaders,
ready to work across multiple sectors.

### Real Impact for New York’s Economy

By targeting efficiency at the manufacturing level, CAES supports one of New York’s
most energy-intensive sectors. That’s a smart move. After all, manufacturers account
for a large portion of industrial emissions and energy consumption statewide.

As energy prices fluctuate and environmental regulations tighten, manufacturers
who act now gain a clear edge. CAES offers them the tools to lead—and to save.

### CAES Energy Center: A Model for Collaboration

This partnership combines federal, state, and university resources in a coordinated
way. NYSERDA brings its deep expertise in clean energy funding and policy. Rutgers
adds its academic research and IAC experience. And local businesses get direct benefits—
better systems, lower energy bills, and improved sustainability.

The center also works closely with the New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT),
Clarkson University, and the University at Buffalo, forming a powerful regional
alliance. Together, they aim to scale best practices and share innovations across
the Northeast.

### The Bottom Line

With the launch of CAES, New York takes another bold step toward an energy-smart,
low-carbon economy. For manufacturers, that means practical help—not just policy.
It’s about turning ideas into action, and action into savings.

If your business wants to cut waste, lower emissions, and get ahead of the curve,
CAES could be your next smart move.
