MaxLite is a New Jersey based global manufacturer and marketer of energy efficient lighting products. The company currently holds a variety of patents in compact fluorescent technology, and is one of the leading brands in the U.S. MaxLite designs and manufactures CFLs, Linear Lamps and Ballasts, LED lamps, GU24 lamps and indoor/outdoor fixtures for both Consumer and Commercial markets.
Winners in the Lighting for Tomorrow Competition were announced at the American Lighting Association Annual Conference in Palos Verdes, California, and MaxLite was honored with the Special Focus Award for Light Distribution.
In choosing MaxLite’s LED Flat Panels, the judges recognized the unique evenness of light distribution achieved by the panels 468 LEDs. Controlled by the inbuilt “smart buildings control” with the additional capability of remote dimming, the LED Flat Panels ability to reduce a building’s carbon footprint, made them the ideal candidate for the judges.
The Competition’s 11 judges represented all areas of the industry, and they selected companies for the Special Focus Awards based on their successful incorporation of important energy efficient design considerations. The judges evaluated entries based on color appearance, color rendering, efficiency, innovation, and other criteria based on energy efficiency.
“This is a great honor for our past development efforts,” said Tim Wyatt, Communications Manager for MaxLite. “Our Flat Panels have already achieved acceptance in the marketplace, and we are installing them in facilities throughout the country. But we are also continuously working on a variety of new ideas in the field of functional, energy efficient solid state lighting”.
Twenty six companies submitted 43 solid-state lighting (SSL) models incorporating LEDs (light emitting diodes) to the competition. The SSL division of the competition expanded this year to incorporate a wider range of entries.
The American Lighting Association (ALA), the Consortium for Energy Efficiency (CEE), and the US Department of Energy (DOE) organized the competition which is now in its fifth year. The competition’s purpose is to increase the awareness of energy efficient lighting and to advocate for its acceptance in the marketplace.
In keeping with their leadership role as Special Focus Awards Winner in the LED Category, and as an ENERGY STAR Partner of the Year, MaxLite is already looking ahead to the next development in LED energy efficiency.
