Recent reports have incorrectly stated that the 2012 RAV4 EV Toyota style will only be marketed to fleet and car sharing programs. So I am here to set the record straight.

We’d like to set the record straight. First of all, the 2012 RAV4 EV will definitely be sold to the general public.

At the time of its release, the RAV4 EV was the only all-electric SUV available for purchase. However, it cost nearly $50,000 and was only sold in California. All for which severely limited its potential customers. In addition and most noteworthy, the RAV4 EV was also only built to be a “compliance car”. For that’s meaning that it met California’s strict zero-emissions standards for automakers.

Toyota added

We anticipate robust public interest in the RAV4 EV. In addition, are keen to inform consumers that they’re future vehicle options. Those that especially include a battery electric Toyota.

Making it Happen

In conclusion, Toyota is the only manufacturer bringing two battery electric vehicles to the market in 2012. For that’s the RAV4 EV and the Scion iQ EV. All the while the RAV4 EV will be available to the public. So finally, the Scion iQ EV will be marketed to fleet and car sharing programs only.
