Shane Snipes launched several organizations in Europe to create awareness on environmental and social issues. He taught social change, technology and management strategies at the College of Charleston. Shane Snipes has led professional trainings with many organizations. For that’s including JD Power & Associates, Volvo, Microsoft, University of Miami. In addition, Best Buy, CompUSA, Intel, College of Charleston and others. In Lithuania, Shane Snipes completed research on cultural change. All related to environmental management and a masters degree in organizational development. That’s from Vytautas Magnus University.

In September of last year, he decided to take a personal sabbatical. Through his successful career as a trainer, he had found ways to help community, but had not taken the big step. That big step happened last fall as he boarded a plane to Spain and did not know when he would return home. Shane spent time considering his life so far, who he thought he was, his cerebral palsy ,the many places he had lived, and most importantly who he truly wanted to be. After five months, he emerged with 1000 ideas literally.

He was armed with a laptop computer and a camera the size of a cellular telephone, Shane Snipes is in the midst of a 5-month journey to interview 1,000 people about their thoughts on sustainability.

Using light and portable equipment, he is able to have live and interactive conversations. As an example, he blogs and tweets from his Prius, which sometimes serves as his mobile radio studio.

To spruce up New York City with even more greenery this spring, the New York Restoration Project has partnered with leading online charity auction site, charitybuzz.com, for the first annual Earth Day Auction. The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
