Orlando is going transportation technology for the rest of this week.   We are talking the 2011, 18th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems.  From October 16‐20 speakers will address the need for intelligent transportation systems (ITS) as a way of improving our nation’s infrastructure while promoting safety, economic recovery and development.
GM VP of Global R & D Alan Taub, Florida Governor Rick Scott and the U.S. DOT Research and Innovative Technology Acting Administrator Greg Winfree, kicked off the opening ceremony.
Patrick McGowan, Chairman of the 18th World Congress on Intelligent Transport Systems emphasized the need for intelligent transportation.  It is key to keep this economy moving. McGowan said paranthetically that we need smarter cities to compete in a global economy. Transportation tech is clearly part of that future.
