Saxony-Anhalt scores with renewable energies and electric mobility

The biggest worldwide specialist congress for batteries Orlando/USA: AABC

Magdeburg / Orlando. Saxony-Anhalt pictures itself as a prominent investment location in Orlando. From 6th to 10th February 2012, the Investment and Marketing Corporation Saxony-Anhalt will represent the German federal state of Saxony-Anhalt at the world’s biggest specialist conference for batteries in mobile and stationary applications, the AABC Conference.

How can batteries be intelligently used in electric vehicles? Saxony-Anhalt is not only a front runner in the area of renewable energies – more than a third of the generated power already comes from renewable sources. The state is also able to exhibit future forward potential in other areas such as fuel cells. The Saxony-Anhalt based company FuelCon has made a name for itself internationally with its test benches for fuel cell systems, for instance.

Saxony-Anhalt scores with renewable energies and electric mobility

The state initiative “Electric mobility, Light andIntelligent – an initiative for Saxony-Anhalt – ELISA” launched in January this year. With this initiative, the regional government has got together with the economic and science sectors to concentrate and accelerate all existing activities in the area of electric mobility, as well as create new ones. The intention is for Saxony-Anhalt to become a leading production and research location for drive technology and energy carriers within five years.

Another example of innovation from Saxony-Anhalt is the IKAM research institute which applies trends in the automotive industry. Batteries and fuel cells for electric vehicles are tested in Magdeburg.
