Empire Clean Cities Now Ensuring Future Generations Clean Air

Getting started: New York City and Lower Hudson Valley Clean Communities, Inc. (NYCLHVCC) is proud to announce that it has officially changed its name to Empire Clean Cities (EmpireCC). The transition took place on October 18, 2012, and EmpireCC will continue NYCLHVCC’s mission to ensure clean air for future generations by Promoting Green Fleets for a Sustainable New York and Lower Hudson Valley.

EmpireCC is a 501c3 organization that is committed to providing citizens, members, and stakeholders access to reliable and dependable information about alternative fuels and vehicles and advanced vehicle technologies in a timely and efficient manner through the following methods:


  • Recommend resources for employers and employees that support and grow a local economy that promotes alternative fuels, alternative fuels vehicles, fuel blends, fuel economy, hybrid vehicles, and idle reduction technologies.
  • Inform all citizens of the benefits associated with implementing policies, practices, and the usage of technologies that reduce petroleum.
  • Support the advancement of greenhouse gas emission reduction technology created by vehicles.
  • Encourage private and public sector businesses to convert fleets to use alternative fuels, alternative fuel vehicles, and advanced vehicles.

EmpireCC is the locally designed Clean Cities coalition by the United States Department of Energy (USDOE). The coalition is tasked with providing support and management skills necessary to advance the region’s economic, environmental, and energy security through building local public-private partnerships towards promoting the use of technologies and practices that reduce petroleum consumption throughout New York City and the Lower Hudson Valley (Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties).
