on Flickr.

The Centre for Interactive Research on Sustainability ([CIRS](https://sustain.ubc.ca/research/research-collections/centre-interactive-research-sustainability))
serves as both a hub for sustainability work on campus. So it’s a green research
lab for sustainability!

Also and as well as a sustainable building research subject. An internationally
recognized interdisciplinary centre, CIRS embodies UBC’s [Campus](https://greenlivingguy.com/2012/04/campus-earns-continued-praise-recognition-for-sustainability/)
as a Living Lab approach. That green research spot for sustainability!  For it’s
testing new ideas and sharing knowledge about sustainable building technologies
and performance.

Designed on the principles of regenerative sustainability as outlined by Dr. John
Robinson_. It’s __the active restoration and regeneration of the environment. Also
and the active pursuit of improvements in the well-being of the community. _

So the CIRS project is an opportunity to better understand the practical applicability
of these principles. Finally and the implications for long-term performance and
use of the building.

Finally, the building is equipped with a robust network of sensors and controls.
All to optimize and document building performance. Finally and the data supports
research projects on topics such as renewable energy technology. Also system optimization,
water reuse, performance gap and inhabitant behavior.
