EnerNOC Signs Utility Contract Extension for Energy Efficiency in Northern California

BOSTON, March 12, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — EnerNOC, Inc. (Nasdaq:ENOC), a leading provider of energy management applications, announced today that it has extended one of its largest utility contracts to deliver energy efficiency solutions to commercial and industrial (C&I) energy users. Under the terms of the contract, two industrial energy efficiency programs – one targeted at the food processing sector and the other targeted at the oil and gas production sector – as well as a monitoring-based commissioning program for conditioned space, will be extended through December 31, 2014.

This integrated energy management approach allows EnerNOC to ensure that utilities and C&I enterprises alike maximize the value of their demand response and energy efficiency initiatives.

These programs are administered by Pacific Gas and Electric Company and funded by California utility customers under the auspices of the California Public Utilities Commission.

The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
