Making furniture out of NYC history

It is not every day that one comes across a luxurious Japanese soaking tub made from reclaimed wood from a Brooklyn water tower. Nor is it common to find a key table that features the WWII footlocker of a soldier who once called Brooklyn home. At Mark Jupiter, our custom-designed furniture features local materials repurposed with a sleek, contemporary edge. We create one-of-a-kind pieces that are inspired by the richness of New York City history and the beauty of its natural resources.

Mark is a 4th generation New York builder best known as a founding partner of the award winning and nationally acclaimed New World Home, creators of the New Old Green Modular (currently featured in the new hardcover PREFABULOUS + ALMOST OFF THE GRID). Inspired by the craftsman of his family starting with his great grandfather hammering out the original copper roofs of the city’s first skyscrapers, to the hand carved furniture designed and built by his father, Mark is committed to continuing his family’s long standing tradition with the launch of MARK JUPITER in DUMBO, Brooklyn.

MARK JUPITER offers a well-crafted furniture collection at a cost accessible to the general market. With a philosophical commitment to sustainability MARK JUPITER utilizes mostly reclaimed and repurposed materials found from local sources. Hand made right in the back of the new showroom in DUMBO, Brooklyn, clients can view the many newly created pieces on the floor or make an appointment to design their very own custom furniture piece.
