First of all, THIS IS A very captivating documentary called VANISHING OF THE BEES. It is something everyone should watch in the comfort of their own homes. The film explores the mysterious and massive disappearance of honeybees across the world.

Then it’s also following the lives of beekeepers in crisis. Also, if discusses the ramifications of these tragic losses. However the potential causes and solutions as well.

“We’re thrilled to share the story of the bees, which encapsulates so many relevant and important issues going on with our planet today,” said directors George Langworthy and Maryam Henein. “When we started making this film we had no idea how crucial bees are to our lives and the extent to which the current agricultural landscape affects their survival. Bees are the modern canary in the coal mine and they have a vital message to impart. In telling this tale, we also emphasize the power people have to make a difference and offer concrete ways to help the bees and everything else on this planet.”

Aswell as an animated short film on the disappearance of honeybees by the film’s animator, Antanas Skukas. It’s called Colony Collapse Disorder (An Unfinished Story).

VANISHING OF THE BEES will be released on DVD by True Mind/Entertainment One. It’s with a suggested retail price of $19.98. Furthermore it will be available at Amazon.com, Whole Foods, Barnes & Noble and other select retailers. The film will also be available via digital retail for $14.99 on iTunes. The film’s score includes music by Brian McBride. Brian is also an independent artist and member of the band Stars of the Lid. His contribution to the soundtrack, titled “The Effective Disconnect”.
