New Hampshire Dry Cleaner Implements Innovative Environmentally Conscious Systems

Manchester, NH ––February 4, 2013 – Xeros, the innovator of an ultra low water cleaning system, and GreenEarth Cleaning, the world’s largest branded solution provider for environmentally conscious dry cleaning, today announced a partnership that provides New Hampshire-based Kleen Inc. with an environmentally sustainable solution for both its laundry and dry cleaning processes.

Kleen has the largest retail laundry and dry cleaning operation in the Upper Valley of New Hampshire and Vermont and has been serving customers in the region for 100 years. The company’s network of environmentally mindful retail stores serve over 10,000 customers per month.

“At Kleen we are committed to serving as an environmental steward in the community as well as providing exemplary service to our customers,” said Dennis Kim, chief executive officer, Kleen. “With Xeros and GreenEarth Cleaning’s systems, we are able to dramatically reduce our water, energy, solvent and detergent usage while delivering exceptional cleaning results that are safe for the environment and our customers.”

GreenEarth Cleaning is an environmentally safe dry cleaning process that replaces petroleum-based solvents with liquid silicone. It cleans as effectively as traditional dry cleaning with significantly reduced utility consumption, and is non-hazardous and non-toxic to the environment. Because clothes cleaned the GreenEarth way aren’t bathed in perc or other petrochemical solvents, they come back fresh and clean without unpleasant “dry cleaning” odor. They last longer too; colors don’t fade and whites don’t gray or yellow, even after repeated cleaning. Everything feels better too. Fabrics are smooth and silky, and sweaters feel soft and supple again. It’s a difference customers can actually see, touch and smell. Kleen has installed specially configured, state-of-the-art machines that leverage the unique chemistry of GreenEarth silicone and reduce electricity, detergent and solvent costs by 65-75% over traditional cleaning methods.

The Xeros Laundry System helps organizations, through the use of polymer bead technology, to deliver water, detergent and energy savings for a greener clean.

The patented, award-winning system uses 70% less water, up to 50% less energy, and approximately 50% less detergent, to deliver superior cleaning results as compared to traditional “soap and water” methods. By combining the beads’ molecular structure with a proprietary detergent solution, dirt from soiled items is attracted and absorbed by the beads, producing cleaner results. The reusable beads have a lifespan of hundreds of washes before being collected and recycled for reintroduction into the polymer supply chain.

“GreenEarth Cleaning, Xeros and Kleen share the same goals of providing the highest quality professional fabric care with the smallest possible environmental footprint,” said Tim Maxwell, president of GreenEarth Cleaning. “Kleen’s environmentally conscious retail stores uniquely offer superior cleaning that is safer for environment.”

“Forward-thinking retail dry cleaners like Kleen are putting a big emphasis on greener cleaning methods,” said David Kaupp, vice president of marketing, Xeros North America. “With Xeros and GreenEarth Cleaning, Kleen is advancing its commitment to green operations while improving cleaning quality, increasing the life of laundered garments and reducing its operating costs.”
