LAS VEGAS – Greenspun Media Group’s (GMG) publications Las Vegas Magazine, Las Vegas Weekly, VEGAS INC and Vegas2Go will begin printing on Catalyst Paper’s carbon neutral stock starting Sunday, Nov. 3, showcasing GMG’s commitment and passion to being environmentally responsible.
Catalyst Paper was the first company in North America to manufacture carbon neutral printing stock. The paper product, known as Sage, is not harvested from forests but instead is purchased fibre from reputable suppliers. Sage has been certified by the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification and Forest Stewardship Council U.S. In addition to its environmental integrity, the company goes above and beyond to reduce emissions as its mills have the lowest carbon footprint of any in North America. To do so, Catalyst Paper’s operations are 87 percent renewable by using hydroelectric power and waste bark energy sources, creating 80 percent less greenhouse gases than typical mills. Catalyst paper is also known for giving back through several environmental charities including initiatives with the Great Bear Rainforest and the World Wildlife Fund.
GMG’s inaugural issues used Sage paper marked on their mastheads with a special logo, informing readers of its added sustainable practices.
