3 Green Star Moms Making A Difference

Man am I always excited to celebrate all things green on Earth Day Week.  My favorite are celebrities; especially green celebrities that are moms!  Then I know I get my life as a dad!

In honor of the special eco-friendly holiday, Celebrity Baby Scoop compiled an overview of three Earth-conscious celebrity mamas who inspire others to protect Mother Nature: Jessica AlbaAlicia Silverstone, and Gisele Bündchen. From writing blogs dedicated to sustainability to advocating for elimination communication, an eco-friendly potty training technique, below is a sneak peek on how these star moms are making a green difference! OK..not in order but here are the top 3.

#3. Alicia Silverstone: The Clueless actress and her husband, Christopher Jarecki, live in a Los Angeles home with solar panels and an organic vegetable garden. A vegan since 1998 and an advocate for animals rights and environmental issues, Alicia shares green tips on her official website, The Kind Life.

She wrote, “The Kind Life is an interactive extension of my book, ‘The Kind Diet,’ which is about living your healthiest and happiest life to the fullest, while taking care of mama Earth at the same time!”

The actress also once caused quite a stir when she posted a video showing her feeding her then-11-month-old son, Bear Blu, mouth-to-mouth!

She wrote: “I just had a delicious breakfast of miso soup, collards and radish steamed and drizzled with flax oil, cast iron mochi with nori wrapped outside, and some grated daikon. Yum! I fed Bear the mochi and a tiny bit of veggies from the soup…from my mouth to his. It’s his favorite…and mine.”

#2 Jessica Alba: Shortly after her second daughter arrived, the Fantastic Four star co-founded The Honest Company, an online source to purchase eco-friendly baby/kid products. In an exclusive interview with Celebrity Baby Scoop, Jessica shared how she teaches her two daughters, Honor, 5½ and Haven, 2½, with husband Cash Warren, to minimize their carbon footprint:

“Involving children in gardening and cooking is another great way to inspire eco-friendly living,” she said. “Caring for the plants in our herb wall garden helps Honor understand the steps to growing food (including patience!), how it ultimately lands on her plate, and about being a good steward of the planet.”

Now for MY FAVORITE MOM drool ok yes dear I’ll be good!!

#1 Gisele Bündchen: The supermodel mom has long been an advocate of going green. The Brazilian beauty says that her children – Benjamin, 4, Vivian, 1, and 6-year-old stepson Jack – have made the importance of the message really hit home.

“Look, when I was growing up my sisters and I wore hand-me-downs and am now doing the same thing,” Gisele shared. “This all goes back to my motto: Reduce, recycle and reuse. The more we buy the more we encourage the manufacturers to produce more stuff.”

A fan of elimination communication, an Earth-friendly potty training technique that eliminates the need for diapers, Gisele was also able to potty train her son, Benjamin, at 6-months-old!
