Haiku® has earned another three award distinctions, taking the innovative and elegant ceiling fan’s total up to eight awards thus far. Just announced, Haiku is a winner in Popular Science’s “Best of What’s New” Awards showcased in the magazine’s December issue. Each year the editors review thousands of products in search of the top 10 tech innovations of the year. These breakthrough products and technologies represent a significant leap in their categories. Haiku won in the Home category and is described in the issue as changing “every convention established by a century of ceiling fan design.”
Haiku was also selected as one of BuildingGreen’s Top-10 products for 2013 by the publisher of GreenSpec and Environmental Building News (EBN). This honor was announced at the U.S. Green Building Council’s Greenbuild Conference in San Francisco. Haiku was among the editor’s selections of the most innovative green products, drawn from product reviews published in GreenSpec and EBN. Last but not least, Haiku is also a finalist in Interior Design magazine’s Best of Year Awards; winners will be determined in late November.
What is it about Haiku that editors and awards juries can’t resist?
Haiku fans look different because they are different. The fan’s sleek look conceals a Sensorless Drive Technology™ that delivers an 80 percent improvement in energy efficiency over conventional ceiling fans while the hand-crafted bamboo airfoils’ aerodynamic profile provides smooth, silent airflow. Operated by a thin, hand-held remote, Haiku has 10 settings including the exclusive Whoosh® mode which stimulates the variations in natural airflow for greater user comfort.
“We are very pleased to accept these awards recognizing Haiku’s superlative materials, finishes and engineering,” said Carey Smith, president and CEO of Big Ass Fans®, the company behind Haiku. “Backed by years of research and hundreds of prototypes, Haiku reflects the innovation and attention to detail we are known for worldwide.”
Haiku has previously been honored with the prestigious red dot design award, the International Design Excellence Award (IDEA®), a LiveEDGE award acknowledging excellence in electronic design and a Design Award™ from the Australian International Design Awards.
