## This Kia Optima Hybrid totally totally represented.

Better watch out Toyota and Lexus because Kia Motors is stepping up. Every hybrid,
gas and electric car I’ve tested always is a bit better than the rest in one way
or another. They really are. So I can’t stand here and say something else.

### Kia Optima Hybrid Electric Car is Sweet!

This hybrid electric car is less expensive, sturdy and a luxurious version of the
2014 [Kia Optima hybrid](https://greenlivingguy.com/2015/02/jordanian-government-plans-solar-upgrade-for-its-mosques/)
electric car. The car tested an average 35-40 miles per gallon and at certain times
got 50 miles per gallon. So last time reported about this review for 2013 version
was different than the 2014.

Plus when you calculate price and the test was in the middle of the winter in 2013.
Winter matters on the fuel economy without question. Traction in the snow, heat,
electric for the windows all matters.

### Really being serious, this car held up to all the tests for a large mid-size car.

What makes this a Great [Hybrid Electric Car](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/02/prius-sells-like-hotcakes-in-california/)
is its exceptional combination of advanced technology, environmental sustainability,
and remarkable fuel efficiency. By utilizing both an electric motor and a gasoline
engine, it not only minimizes fuel consumption but also reduces harmful emissions.
This contributes to a cleaner environment.

The seamless transition between power sources ensures that drivers experience a
smooth and responsive performance. This is true whether cruising on the highway
or navigating city streets. Additionally, this hybrid model is equipped with cutting-
edge features, such as regenerative braking. This captures energy typically lost
during braking and feeds it back into the battery. It enhances overall efficiency.

With a spacious interior, state-of-the-art infotainment system, and robust safety
features, this [hybrid electric car offers an exceptional driving](https://greenlivingguy.com/2026/07/toyota-tacoma-trd-prerunner-xtracab-2026-test-drive-results/)
experience. It is perfect for families and individuals alike. This makes it a top
choice for the environmentally conscious consumer who values both performance and
sustainability.

The Optima Hybrid uses a 2.4-liter engine with a six-speed automatic transmission,
and a 30kW electric motor. The batteries are lightweight lithium polymer batteries
and gets 37 miles per US gallon average and 39 miles per US gallon highway. Although
on the highway, the car got 45 mpg and 50 mpg in the city due to the EV mode.

## Interior on the EX version Proves Cost Effective Luxury

The interior really had a luxury touch. From the white leather [sears](https://greenlivingguy.com/2013/02/ecotality-and-sears-expand-relationship-unveil-electric-vehicle-chargers-in-tennessee-and-arizona/),
to the heated seat option to the luxury features available in the back seat proved
comparable to higher end Lexus vehicles. There was a blue ‘piping,’ and additional
leatheresque touches on the door and armrest as well.

_Not including the twin sunroofs and mesh curtains for the rear seating was equivalent
to a [Lexus ES 350h](https://greenlivingguy.com/2026/03/lexus-nx-350h-f-sport-2026-test-drive-results/)
2013._
