As we all in pretty much a deep freeze. So it’s important I have always said to insulate your home for warmth. Also comfort and saving on energy bills. A while back, I wrote about the need to insulate. Especially where most people forget. I have always said they forget the garage next to your home.
Most importantly, homes with attached garages. For that I personally know in my house can totally lead to energy waste.
The effort that goes into insulating the outside of the house. Well when I looked at it back then pre inspection was one thing. Yet once I bought it and went back up there it all added up. Which was why I wrote the story in the first place. It is not often extended to the garage.
That’s a mistake and here is why:
So I insulated attic above your unheated garage, it will help. I mean seriously reduce the energy costs for the other insulated parts of the home.

Several different materials can be used for sidewall insulation: cellulose fiber, fiberglass, and a number of different types of foam. Each will not only retard heat flow from the inside of the house to the outside but will also cut down on air infiltration through gaps in the sheathing and other areas. Some foam products can be injected into sidewall cavities even if there is already insulation in place.
Although One of these alternate techniques is to construct a house using SIPs, which stands for structural insulated panels.
For SIPs are prefabricated solid sheets. That’s of building material generally constructed of foam surrounded on each side by a layer of oriented strand board (OSB). They’re most commonly used for walls and roofs. However it can also serve as floors and foundations.
So while sidewall insulation can be installed. That’s from inside the house through holes drilled into plaster or drywall. I did the drywall in my basement and the batt insulation in the attic. Then I also sprayed in areas that wouldn’t do it with any other insulation. Those nooks and crannies as I like to call it. So the usual protocol is to do it from the outside. This tricky job is best left to the experts.
Injection holes are drilled through wooden clapboard siding. Then they are plugged with paintable plastic caps. Also some lengths of the siding must be removed. Moreover holes must be drilled. All through the sheathing. Holes in stucco-sided homes. Well they can be patched with stucco-cement materials. Furthermore, vinyl and aluminum siding can be temporarily removed. As well as then replaced after the sidewall insulation occurs. Finally, now installation process is complete.
