# Tritium’s ChargePoint Station for Efficient and Fast Charging EVs

Australian-based Tritium today announced it has signed an exclusive U.S. contract
with [ChargePoint](https://www.chargepoint.com/) for stations. For it’s the world’s
largest and most open electric vehicle (EV) charging network.

Most notably, ChargePoint will [install](https://greenlivingguy.com/2024/12/ev-charging-infrastructure-fueling-the-future-of-transportation/)
Tritium’s award-winning DC fast charging stations, the Veefil [across the country](https://greenlivingguy.com/2024/12/ev-charging-infrastructure-fueling-the-future-of-transportation/).
The fast charging stations also have a power output of 50kW. Most notably, it can
deliver up to 80 miles or 128 kilometers in just 20 minutes.

In addition, the Tritium stations are able to charge all cars equipped for DC fast
charging. That’s using the included SAE-Combo connector or a CHAdeMO connector. 
Moreover, Tesla drivers will be able to use the CHAdeMO connector with an adapter
slated to go on sale shortly.

“ChargePoint approached us because it was attracted by both the design and unique
technology of the Veefil®, plus the fact that it is extremely simple for the EV 
owner to use,” explains Tritium’s CEO, David Finn.

### Why ChargePoint Stations?

They were looking for a strong partner in the USA. They were quite aware of ChargePoint
stations and their excellent distribution and an established network throughout 
the country.

In addition, let’s not forget the rate and high volume at which ChargePoint is able
to deploy their product. So that market commitment to establishing a major network
of DC fast chargers. For that’s what makes this instant collaboration so successful.

### All across the Country

The stations will also be installed on major routes across the country. This will
all be part of the ChargePoint network of over 21,000 EV charging stations.

#### VW and BMW

In addition ChargePoint [recently partnered](https://web.archive.org/web/20150801075849/http://www.chargepoint.com:80/press-releases/2015/0122)
with Volkswagen and BMW to build express charging corridors on both the east and
west coasts of the U.S. The stations will be ChargePoint branded, clearly marked
as DC Fast stations and the connectors will be labeled so drivers know which is 
compatible with their car.

“These stations can be used by any [EV equipped with fast charging](https://greenlivingguy.com/2023/04/charge-ev-station-we-need-now/)
and will be installed in convenient locations where drivers need them most,” said
Pasquale Romano, ChargePoint CEO. “With access to fast charging stations along major
routes, drivers can depend on an EV as their only vehicle.”

### ChargePoint Station App

To use the stations, drivers just have to sign up for a ChargePoint membership (
[https://na.chargepoint.com/register](https://na.chargepoint.com/register)). Drivers
can find charging stations and see their availability in real-time at ChargePoint.
com or with the free ChargePoint mobile app. To start a charging session, drivers
simply wave their ChargePoint card in front of the station, use the ChargePoint 
mobile app or call the 1-888 number printed on the ChargePoint station.
