Unite by Blue focuses on Clean Water, Oceans and Rivers

Most companies these days claim some sort of CSR or environmental angle, but I wanted to bring a young and very successful brand to your attention that really walks the walk.

United By Blue is an apparel and lifestyle accessories company that was founded in 2010 (as a B-Corp) and a mission to clean up the world’s waterways. The company promises to remove one pound of trash from an ocean or waterway for every product sold… so far the company has pulled almost a quarter million pounds of trash out of the water in the last five years. They don’t donate proceeds to other organizations; they do the hard work themselves. It’s frankly what keep them inspired and motived to come to work everyday (FYI – the company leadership is 28 & 26 years old respectively, they’re also a multimillion dollar company sold in over 400 outlets nationally).

These guys are not only doing their part, but are bringing a lot of attention toward ocean and river pollution through every aspect of their business. In just 5 years, the company’s products are sold in over 400 outlets nationally and they operate 3 brick and mortar stores that carry their name. Both Earth Day (April 22) and World Oceans Day (June 8) are coming up in the next couple months.
