## SolarCity Cornered Up 34 Percent of US Residential Solar in 2014

SolarCity, the largest residential solar product installer in the [United States](https://greenlivingguy.com/2012/11/solarcity-files-ipo-up-to-200m/),
effectively cornered up 34 percent of the residential solar market share in 2014.
Indeed, SolarCity cornered the market successfully. The company installed 217.6
megawatts (MW) of solar capacity last year. All which is more than twice the amount
installed by its closest competitor. The solar industry has seen significant growth
in recent years. That’s with installations increasing by 34 percent in 2014 alone.
This growth is due in part to the declining cost of solar panels and the increasing
availability of financing options.

### SolarCity Success in Solar Market

SolarCity’s success in the residential solar market can be attributed to its innovative
business model, which allows homeowners to lease solar panels for little or no money
down. This approach has made solar energy more accessible and affordable for homeowners,
many of whom would not have been able to afford the upfront costs of purchasing
a [solar system](https://greenlivingguy.com/2022/06/how-to-explore-and-enjoy-your-munich-trip-and-stay-eco-friendly/)
outright. The way Solar City cornered the market shows the effectiveness of such
approaches.

In addition to making solar energy more accessible, [SolarCity](https://greenlivingguy.com/2011/06/u-s-bancorp-solarcity-158-million-fund-solar/)
is also committed to reducing its environmental impact. The company has implemented
a number of sustainability initiatives. For example, a partnership with Clean the
World to recycle used soap and hygiene products from hotels. The recycled products
are then distributed to homeless shelters and disaster relief organizations. This
partnership has helped to divert over 2 million pounds of waste. That’s from landfills
to provide hygiene products. Especially to those in need. Solar City cornered not
only market share but also community initiatives.

#### Conclusion

For example, [Martin Resorts](https://greenlivingguy.com/2011/12/martin-resorts-leading-in-sustainability-efforts/),
a hotel chain based in California, has partnered with Clean the World. All to recycle
soap and hygiene products from its hotels. The company has also implemented water
conservation measures. For that’s such as low-flow toilets and showerheads. In addition,
it has installed energy-efficient lighting and HVAC systems.

In conclusion, the success of SolarCity in the residential solar market is a testament
to the growing demand for renewable energy and sustainable practices. The company’s
innovative business model has also made solar energy more accessible and affordable
for homeowners. All the while its commitment to sustainability has helped to reduce
waste and provide hygiene products to those in need. The construction industry is
also taking steps to become more sustainable and reduce its impact on the environment,
which is a positive sign for the future of our planet.
