Since 1996, Call2Recycle has diverted more than 100 million pounds (45 million kilograms) of batteries and cellphones. That’s from the solid waste stream and established more than 34,000 collection sites throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Staples

Bring your old rechargeable batteries to your local Staples for free recycling. All collected batteries are also responsibly recycled by Call2Recycle.
Staples accepts and redeems if eligible for Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd). As well as Lithium Ion (Li-Ion), Small Sealed Lead Acid (SSLA/Pb), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), and Nickel Zinc (Ni-ZN) batteries that are 11 pounds or less.

Moreover they also cannot accept single-use alkaline or lithium batteries or automotive/wet-cell batteries.

Purpose

Local governments and nonprofits have made it easy for consumers to recycle. Recycle or dispose of household goods like cell phones, cardboard boxes, batteries, and rubber tires. However, these local recycling efforts are not scalable for big businesses. Cause Imagine what airlines have to do when an airliner retires. Many cargo and passenger airplanes face this problem when they modernize their fleet. Although storage is sometimes a solution, it can be pricey, too.

Supporting the Effort

The program continues to engage and support municipalities. Also retailers and consumers to take action on recycling batteries and cellphones through education efforts. More importantly and outreach campaigns.  As the proliferation of mobile devices and other battery-powered gadgets continues to grow rapidly, it is more important than ever. Especially for consumers to know where to responsibly recycle their used batteries.
