Phipps’ Center for Sustainable Landscapes received the Living Building Certification. It has garnered several prestigious awards and is the only building in the world to achieve all four green building standards of excellence.

Pittsburgh, Pa. — Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens’ Center for Sustainable Landscapes (CSL) was built to be one of the greenest buildings in the world and was certified to receive the Living Building certification. Since then, the project has won multiple prestigious national and international awards. In March 2015, the CSL became the first and only project to attain the world’s four highest sustainable building certifications. Thereby achieving the Living Building Certification Building Living Certification ChallengeLEED ® PlatinumFour Stars Sustainable SITES Initiative ™ (SITES ™) and WELL Building Platinum project (pilot).

As well, green buildings reduce emissions. They reduce emissions by up to and more than 35%. Greener buildings can also reduce energy from 30-60%  In net zero buildings its 100%.

So living building performance has earned it many awards. That’s including the EPA’s Green Power Partner of the Year Award. Also the Beyond Green High Performance Buildings Award from the Sustainable Buildings Industry Council. Similarly an EBIE Award from the U.S. Green Building Council. That’s as well as an International Landscape Design award from the Association of Professional Landscape Designers. Pennsylvania Resources Council’s Sustainability Leadership Award and more.
