New products and services with faster time-to-market

VTT’s printed electronics pilot plant in Finland has moved into a new era. For that’s an industrial internet-based solution. I mean the first for the printed electronics production in the world. It most definitely has been installed for the control of the plant. Environmental conditions affecting sensitive roll-to-roll production. For it can be monitored. I mean also temperature, humidity and pressure measurements. They all can be performed.

For then the measurement results are collected wirelessly to a cloud service. Thereby enabling the analysis and presentation of data on mobile devices. This enables the faster and lower-risk introduction of new products and services onto the market.

The pilot plant in Oulu serves various purposes. That’s including research and development. I mean in relation to diagnostics for the health care and well-being sector. Also, wearable electronics. In addition, smart lighting and IoT technology for industry and buildings.

Cutting Edge Technologies

So this cutting-edge IoT technology had never been used. I mean at the pilot plant or by surprisingly many other electronics production lines.

So they wanted to change this.

All by developing an easily installed sensor. Also a visualization system. That’s for the electronics production line. Thereby facilitating data-related added value services for industrial internet interfaces. That’s all with the outside world. That was said by Principal Scientist Marko Jurvansuu of VTT.

Pilot Plant

The pilot plant also offers a unique research environment for enterprises. That’s especially where a new sensor and or IoT solutions can be customized and tested. All in a pre-commercial production environment. This lowers the threshold for bringing products to market. Especially for practical implementation by companies. Moreover in their own environments. For it also speeds up the introduction of new products for probably like thousands of companies annually. I mean maybe even tens of thousands. Who knows? Time will truly be the test on how many products can be brought to market I guess.

The solution also facilitates major changes in operating methods. I mean since and thanks to cloud based monitoring. So they can check on the condition of a printing machine. Also, preventive maintenance, among other activities. For that I heard can also be partially outsourced.

Offcode

Offcode is whose ADN IoT platform is integrated into the system. For it is the first company to use VTT’s solution. The system also combines collected sensor data. Thereby enabling each party to pick the items of information. I mean those that are of interest to them.

In future, data from a printing machine will be accessible through a cloud service. I mean for all  companies. Those that offer services related to data processing. When the scale of printing accuracy is in the range of tens of micrometers. That’s even the most minor issues can also influence the end result.

Prototype

The system developed for the pilot plant is in itself a prototype product. One moreover that can be duplicated. Especially for printed electronics production lines worldwide.

Most importantly, VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland has also been engaged in the long-term development of printed electronics. That’s for over 15 years. In addition, VTT sells services to companies all over the globe. That’s most notably for the development and production folks. Again and of printed electronics products.

People who are interested in the pilot plant please join in too. Also those interested in the industrial internet. For they are welcome to participate in Prinse-seminar. For that’s where there is a possibility to visit the pilot factory.
