Contractor Informational Meetings Announced for New NY Green Bank-Sponsored Home Energy Loan Financing Program

Events in Rochester, Buffalo, and Albany Spotlight Investment Led by the New York Green Bank for a Financing Program Where Contractors and Property Owners Alike can Benefit from Statewide Financing Programs for Energy-Related Home Upgrades

ALBANY, N.Y., June 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ — Companies and contractors across the state that install energy efficiency and renewable energy home improvements are encouraged to attend a free seminar that will feature important information about ReHome New York, New York’s official ENERGY STAR HVAC & home improvement financing plan.

ReHome New York’s below-market, longer-term financing is made possible principally through an investment by the New York Green Bank. This special financing can help New York homeowners affordably improve the energy efficiency of their homes. For loan amounts from $2,500 to $20,000, ReHome New York requires no home equity, has loan terms of up to ten years, and no closing costs.

Contractors can offer their customers ReHome New York as a fixed-rate alternative to higher-rate credit cards or other financing methods. To perform work under the program, Renew Financial must first approve contractors. . Information on how to become an Approved ReHome New York Contractor will be available at the seminars.

The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
