HuffPost Originals Launches “Sustainable Self,” An Original, Animated Series Connecting Small Choices to Big Impacts

July 28th, 2016 – HuffPost Originals today launched Sustainable Self, a ten-episode original animated series that connects the small choices we make in our everyday lives to the huge impact they have on the Earth. Each episode takes the viewer from a micro to macro perspective by featuring a simple action and demonstrating the effects that action has on the planet when multiplied.

The Huffington Post is partnering with Change.org to launch a Sustainable Self movement page, where viewers can create and join petitions based on the issues highlighted in each episode. HuffPost previously partnered with Change.org to launch ‘Reclaim,’ an editorial campaign to highlight the scale of food waste and collaborate with HuffPost’s audience to reduce it. This newest partnership is building on that movement to make viewers aware of global social problems and provide them with actionable ways they can contribute to the solutions.

The series premiere, “Bring Your Own,” focuses on the enormous amount of plastic we waste globally. “The waste generated from these single-use, non-biodegradable plastic products sticks around in some form for about 500 years or six human lifespans,” the episode reveals. Plastic is the party guest who refuses to leave and this episode tells you how to kick’ em out for good.
