U.S. Bank Voyager® Fleet Card adopts a “green” hue now it can be used to charge electric vehicles

Voyager is first fleet card to be accepted at ChargePoint U.S. electric vehicle charging spots

MINNEAPOLIS and CAMPBELL, Calif. (May 31, 2017) – Beginning this summer, public buses, delivery trucks and other corporate fleets will have the opportunity to reduce their environmental footprint more than ever before. U.S. Bank (NYSE: USB) is teaming up with ChargePoint, the world’s largest electric vehicle (EV) charging network, to offer Voyager Network Fleet Card acceptance at tens-of-thousands of ChargePoint charging ports throughout the United States. ChargePoint will begin equipping its locations for acceptance immediately and expects the process to be completed over the summer.


Together, the companies are bringing many firsts to the industry.

ChargePoint is the first EV charging network to accept corporate fleet cards and Voyager is the first fleet card issuer to be accepted at their charging spots nationwide. This first-of-its-kind relationship in the fleet industry is timely, as Electric Vehicles International predicts electric car fleets to reach 20 million by 2020 globally.

It is one of the largest fleet-fueling and maintenance acceptance networks in the United States. The Voyager Fleet Card is accepted at more than 320,000 fueling spots. The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
