Equipped with Motiv All-Electric Powertrain
FOSTER CITY, Calif., June 13, 2017 /PRNewswire/ — Leading the way for cleaner fleets in California. So the City of Sacramento will soon be home to the State’s first all-electric truck. I mean an automated left-side loader garbage truck.

The fundamental technology powering the Electric Refuse Vehicle (ERV) is Motiv Power Systems. Because it’s scalable and also modular All-Electric Powertrain. In addition, the Class-8 vehicle will also be built on a Crane Carrier chassis.
Most importantly and also the body will be built by Loadmaster.
Furthermore, The City of Sacramento also aims to run the ERV on residential and recycling routes.
Most importantly it also expects to save as much as 6,000 gallons of fuel per year. At $5.00 a gallon. Well I can do that math at $30,000 of fuel savings a truck!
The Sacramento ERV will also be one of only two all-electric refuse trucks in operation. Most noteworthy and I mean within North America. All both powered by Motiv.

Reducing harmful vehicle emissions in the Sacramento region. It’s a primary focus of our Sustainability Policy. Moreover and the most effective way to achieve that goal is to implement electric vehicles into our fleet.” That was said by Mark Stevens. Mark is the Fleet Manager for the City of Sacramento.

The City of Sacramento also intends to prove that all-electric refuse trucks are the future of the industry. Moreover and we anticipate igniting that trend.”
Sacramento specified that this ERV must meet the demanding requirements placed on all of its garbage trucks. This includes three routes per day to remove trash, recycling and green waste in a downtown Sacramento neighborhood. To supply enough electricity to move the truck and power the hydraulics all day, the ERV is equipped with 10 battery packs, expandable to 12 packs if needed for future route expansion. Using the Motiv Universal high power Charger, the ERV batteries will easily reach full charge overnight.
