To address this issue, the Urban Land Institute (ULI) has partnered with 100 Resilient Cities. It was pioneered by the Rockefeller Foundation (100RC). This partnership also aims to provide select cities with the expertise. Moreover and the tools they need to build resilience and overcome challenges.

The Role of ULI in Resilience Building

As a part of the Platform of Partners, ULI will offer its expertise in building for resilience to a select group of 100RC cities. The Platform Partners play a vital role. Especially in assisting cities in preparing for and recovering from acute shocks like hurricanes. Also fires and floods. For that’s as well as ongoing stresses such as water shortages. In addition to homelessness and unemployment. These partners represent a diverse range of stakeholders. For that’s including private sector entities. In addition to public sector organizations, non-governmental organizations, and academic communities.

ULI, a global, multidisciplinary real estate organization, has a long-standing commitment to responsible land use and the creation of sustainable communities. As a 100RC partner, ULI will leverage its renowned Advisory Services program and locally based District Council networks to provide resilience guidance to cities. The partnership also entails convening Advisory Services panels and Technical Assistance panels (TAPs). Especially to help cities design and implement their comprehensive Resilience Strategies.

ULI’s Advisory Services Program

ULI’s Advisory Services program brings together experts from various fields. Especially to offer advice on community building. Most importantly that promotes environmental preservation. Moreover, economic prosperity and a high quality of life. Through this program, ULI has provided guidance. That’s to numerous cities across the United States. For example and including Norfolk, Virginia. In addition to El Paso, Texas. Moreover, Duluth, Minnesota, as well as Miami Dade County, Florida. All are on building for resilience.

The program’s approach involves analyzing the unique challenges. For that’s faced by each city and developing tailored solutions. Most noteworthy that address their specific needs. By leveraging the expertise of ULI members and resilience collaborators. For the program ensures that cities receive comprehensive and also practical recommendations.

Collaborative Efforts: Workshops and Panels

To kick off the Platform Partnership, ULI recently hosted a “Ten Principles for Building Resilience” workshop at its headquarters in Washington, DC. The workshop brought together a panel of ULI members. Also resilience collaborators, and 100RC Chief Resilience Officers. Especially to analyze the findings of previous Advisory Services Panels. The goal was to develop ten principles that encompass the environmental, social, economic, land use, and financial aspects of resilience. The resulting report, which will be available in late summer. For it will provide cities with a valuable resource for building their own resilience strategies.

In addition to workshops, ULI’s involvement in the Platform Partnership includes convening Advisory Services panels and TAPs. These panels bring together experts to address specific challenges. That’s faced by cities and provide actionable recommendations for resilience building. With 51 District Councils across the United States. For the ULI is well-positioned to tap into local expertise. Finally and ensure that cities receive guidance that is tailored to their unique contexts.

  4. Membership in a global network of peers for learning and collaboration.
