We do use a lot of paper but at least we seem to be moving in the right direction as regards to recycling or saving paper. Because in the last 20 years or so, the recovery rate for paper has almost doubled. This is great to see but of course there is still room for improvement. This infographic from Colourfast takes you through the progress we are making but also offers advice on how we can further improve.

As I’ve written before:

Protects Our Forests

A vast amount of forestry and trees have to be cut down and destroyed to create new, paper-based products for consumers. This can have a huge impact on the natural habitats of creatures in the wild, as well as using a lot of energy and resources to cut down the trees.

However, if you send your paper products such as old newspapers, scrap paper and other waste paper products to be recycled, you can have a direct impact on how many trees are cut down to create paper-based products from scratch.

Plant Trees besides Recycling

Trees are the paper we use but also absolutely vital for us to survive on this planet. Not only do they create oxygen, but they also clean the air and provide the much necessary protection to wildlife. Trees are also in charge of preventing soil erosion, a problem we see more often now that in parts of the world that are often hit by floods. Planting a tree isn't difficult nor expensive

First of all, the trees we use for paper are absolutely vital for us to survive on this planet. Not only do they create oxygen, but they also clean the air. Most importantly provide the much necessary protection to wildlife. Trees are also in charge of preventing soil erosion. That’s a problem we see more often now that in parts of the world that are often hit by floods. So planting a tree isn’t difficult nor expensive. As well as it can even contribute to increasing value of your property. Finally and another reason to plant trees in your front yard is to have your house protected from the street noise. In conclusion and as well as the dirt that may come your way from the street.

Finally, Saving paper saves more than trees. That’s because with one ton of recycled paper incredibly saving 60,000 gallons of water. There are also some misconceptions about what can and can’t be recycled. For example, some people believe that you need to remove staples, paper clips etc. However and before you recycle remember that modern recycling procedures are generally designed to do this for you.
