“Efforts to tackle climate change do not have to work at cross-purposes with the need to feed a growing world population. Natural climate solutions, which are urgently required to provide a third of the world’s climate solution by 2030, can work in harmony with sectors like agriculture and forestry. Take reforestation of degraded and unused land – this can effectively remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere without disturbing prime agricultural land. Regenerative agriculture – with practices that reduce emissions and store more carbon in soils – can even boost the amount of food we produce, while helping the climate at the same time.”
Nature4Climate (N4C) is an initiative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), Conservation International (CI), The Nature Conservancy (TNC), Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), Woods Hole Research Center, World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and World Resources Institute (WRI) that aims to increase investment and action on natural climate solutions in support of the 2015 Paris climate agreement. The N4C partners work together to catalyse partnerships between governments, civil society, business and investors to cut and remove greenhouse gas emissions across the land sector.
