SHELTON, Conn., July 31, 2017 —  Say hello to Volvo electric  This announcement to make only electric or hybrid cars by 2019 received a positive reaction from consumers in SSI’s latest poll.

First off, Volvo announced in 2017 that by 2019 it’s Volvo electric.  Yup, every Volvo it launches from 2019 will have an electric motor.  Thereby marking the historic end of cars that only have an internal combustion engine (ICE).  Most importantly and noteworthy therefore placing electrification at the core of its future business.

Forty-one percent of 338 people interviewed online say the announcement makes them more likely to buy a Volvo electric.  However, only 17 percent say the news would put them off buying the brand.  For many people (42 percent), Volvo’s direction has no impact on their future car buying decisions.

More than half of the 48 Volvo owners SSI interviewed said when they do buy their next car they will probably buy another Volvo.  So that 40 percent going Volvo will go Volvo Electric.

2).  Eighteen of the 48 Volvo owners said they don’t plan to buy a Volvo next time.

3) However and most interesting, only three people in this group said the reason for choosing another brand was that they don’t want an electric or hybrid car. Yup, that’s ONLY 3 PERCENT.
