Ontario Cops Go Super Troopers Buying USED Tesla Model X Future of Policing

Canada’s Ontario Provincial Police offered up a glimpse of the future of policing at this year’s edition of the Canadian International Autoshow: a Tesla Model X P90D outfitted for use as a pursuit vehicle.

The SUV was given a black-and-white paint job. In addition the OPP badge, and a working siren. However it’s not on the patrol yet. Yes heads up and more importantly “for the time being”. Cause it’s just for demonstrative purposes. The vehicle was apparently a generous donation from a friend. OPP Sergeant Kerry Schmidt described the cruiser as the following!

That’s all according to a report from Tech Crunch.

Ontario’s police force wouldn’t be the first. You know the first to take advantage of Tesla’s electric vehicles. Firstly and in August 2017, it was confirmed that Luxembourg’s Grand-Ducale police department would start using Model S sedans. All part of an effort to transition away from gas and diesel-powered autos.

The Los Angeles City Council approved moving forward with the Los Angeles Green Business Certification Program. The City of Los Angeles’ initiative, to be administered by the Los Angeles Community College District (LACCD), will provide information on how to identify a green business and how businesses can adopt sustainable practices. One of the aims is to enable consumers to support firms that strive to protect the environment. The program was announced at a news conference at Ciudad restaurant. Green Seal, Inc., the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce, Green Globe and dineLA, a part of LA INC, The Los Angeles Convention and Visitors Bureau will join the LACCD in its work on this effort.
Joe Veilleux doesn’t view himself as an environmentalist, but he understands how his actions might paint him with that brush. “I’m not an environmentalist,” said Veilleux, general manager of the U.S. operations of natural health ingredient manufacturer Euromed. “I’m a pragmatist. There’s a difference. A lot of environmentalists have characterized their cause as one that pits them directly against corporate America. I’m part of corporate America, but I also recognize the debt I owe to the environment and want to do my fair share to protect it. In the long run, it’s just good for business and there are plenty of examples throughout history of how our environment is one of our most valuable natural resources.” Veilleux’s company is partner with the Everglades Foundation in a campaign dubbed Glade-iator (www.glade-iator.org), which is a model of the public-private partnership Veilleux believes is good for business.
