An [electric](https://greenlivingguy.com/2010/12/mercedes-gives-us-an-electric-car-for-urban-areas/)
version of the Smart ForTwo is coming to America. This fully electric powered Smart
car has a 30 kW drive motor and 16.5 kWh lithium-ion battery. Using a standard 220-
volt outlet. For it takes only three and a half hours to charge the battery. That’s
from 20 to 80 percent of its capacity. Also and less than eight hours to fully charge
it. The battery can also be charged using a common household 110-volt outlet. The
vehicles can reach highway speeds. Those that offer a range of 82 miles on a single
charge.

In addition, this is how the Smart Electric Car is designed to run.  Furthermore,
Smart will launch a fleet of only 250 of the electric cars in the U.S. in October

#### Not Dead but Almost

Finally and according to [Tech Crunch](https://techcrunch.com/2019/04/29/daimler-pulls-the-plug-on-electric-smart-car-sales-in-u-s-canada/),
Daimler isn’t killing off the smart vehicle altogether. Daimler announced in March

with Zhejiang Geely Holding Group. All to transform smart into an all-electric brand
based in China. Under the agreement, the quirky vehicles will be assembled at a 
new factory in China. Global sales are expected to begin in 2022. That’s what was
Daimler said at the time.
