These days there are so many innovative and amazing ways that you can move forward
when it comes to having a green and healthy lifestyle. You know, the kind of lifestyle
that would make [Mother Nature](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/08/dont-let-mother-nature-get-a-hold-of-your-wallet/)
proud. Of course, it’s totally normal if the massive list of both common sense and
creative ideas for greening up your life overwhelms you if you let yourself take
the time to stop to think about it. Because the list of suggestions and ideas are
nearly endless, here’s a quick look at just a few innovative green methods that
will get you started.

#### 1. Get Your Rest

Sleep is also important for a healthy body and most of us don’t get enough of it.
If this is you, try to get a minimum of 7 hours each night. Darken your room, make
sure you have a good mattress, and if you really need to, try some Melatonin supplements.
Melatonin occurs naturally in your body, but sometimes you need a boost to help
your body relax enough to get to sleep.

(No doubt, [your resting Metabolic Rate](https://calculator-online.net/rmr-calculator/)(
RMR) does matter as this show the least amount of energy (calories) that an individual
body consume even if he/she do zero activity. So, use an advanced RMR calculator
to monitor your resting metabolic rate).

#### 2. Use the Tap Water

While there are certainly parts of the country in which tap water isn’t safe to
drink like Flint, Michigan. So for the rest, the myth that bottled [water](https://www.webmd.com/diet/ss/slideshow-water-health)
is somehow better than what comes out of your tap is pretentious at best. When water
is stored in plastic, it’s a more excessive waste of resources and a waste of time
and money. Aim for a minimum of eight 8-ounce glasses each day and, unless you’ve
been advised otherwise, the water from your tap will work just fine.

#### 3. Clean Your Body

Toxins are no better in your body than they are for the earth. For a green and healthy
lifestyle, if you’ve made a habit of drinking or using drugs, find a place like
[Windward Way](https://windwardway.com/drug-addiction/) — or a rehabilitation and
treatment center in your local area. All to get those toxins out of your body. You’re
no good for the earth if you aren’t good to yourself.

#### 4. Grow and Eat Your Veggies

Having a [vegetable](https://www.webmd.com/food-recipes/features/eat-your-vegetables#1)
garden is good for both you and the earth. You can create an organic plot off land
to grow your own herbs and veggies. Not only will they taste amazing and be loaded
with nutrients but you’ll also save money at the grocery store.

#### 5. Think Biodegradable and Clean

Good cleaning habits for your household are a step in the right direction. Even
better, for a [green and healthy lifestyle](https://greenlivingguy.com/2011/11/shft-com%20empowering%20a%20green%20lifestyle%20with%20ford%20/),
use cleaners that are biodegradable. That’s as opposed to detergents that have excessive
chemicals in them and are foul-smelling.

#### 6. Don’t Buy or Dump Plastic

This is a simple rule. The next time you’re at the store, don’t use the plastic
bags. Instead, [plan ahead for the trip](https://greenlivingguy.com/2026/08/plan-greener-road-trips-without-sacrifice/)
and bring your own reusable ones. If you don’t have any use for the plastic bags
that are already stored in your home, find a local recycling center and turn them
in so they can be put to some use. Also, many grocery stores have bins for collecting
bags you no longer have use for.

#### 7. Reduce the Time Your Clothes Wash

When it comes to washing clothes, always use detergents that are eco-friendly. Also,
try running the washer only when you have a load large enough to fill the machine
to reduce any wasted water and energy. Additionally, take advantage of sunny days
by hanging your clothes out to dry, as opposed to running the dryer. If you must
wash clothes without a full load, try washing those items by hand, which will also
give you a nice workout.

Please note that the list you’ve just read isn’t in any particular order, but by
carefully going over it, you’ll quickly be able to prioritize a few of the suggestions
that will mesh well with your lifestyle and can be implemented as soon as possible.
