BRAMPTON, ON, July 29, 2019/CNW/ – Holy Brampton electric bus [demo](https://greenlivingguy.com/2015/02/proterra-continues-to-grow-ev-bus-market-share-with-new-fta-5312-grant-announcements/)
going on under the radar. They are Reducing pollution from transportation. All which
is essential. Because Canada is working to fight climate change. Furthermore they
work on supporting healthy communities and investing in clean economic growth. The
Government of [Canada](https://greenlivingguy.com/2018/01/government-of-canada-investment-nearly-doubles-ev-charging-stations-in-new-brunswick/)
is encouraging the widespread adoption of electric vehicles. All by supporting innovative
projects that provide more options to drive clean. That’s including by making investments
in electric, hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles.

So the Honourable Catherine McKenna, Minister of Environment and Climate Change
announcing an investment of $7.6 million from the [Low Carbon Economy Fund.](https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/climate-change/low-carbon-economy-fund.html)
All toward the largest global deployment to date of fully interoperable battery
electric buses. That’s as well as high-powered, overhead, on-route chargers in Brampton.
In other words a Brampton electric bus network. Thereby displacing the city’s diesel
buses.  Most importantly and significantly reducing greenhouse gases and air pollution.

Minister McKenna also announced, on behalf of the Honourable Amarjeet Sohi, Canada’s
Minister of Natural Resources, a $3.5-million investment. Consequently coming from
[Natural Resources Canada’s](https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/home) [Green Infrastructure Program](https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/climate-change/green-infrastructure-programs/19780)
This will help the city of Brampton Electric Bus network in procuring, installing,
operating and maintaining four 450kW overhead bus-charging stations. Finally and
eight battery electric buses.

With a total of more than $11 million in funding provided by the Government of Canada
toward the Brampton portion of the Pan-Canadian Electric Bus Network**.** So these
investments will help reduce pollution and energy costs and pave the way for a zero-
emission transportation sector.

Canada’s two leading bus manufacturers are [New Flyer](https://www.newflyer.com/)
Industries and [Nova Bus.  ](http://novabus.com/)So they will manufacture the battery
electric buses. Then [Asea Brown Boveri (ABB)](https://new.abb.com/) and [Siemens](https://new.siemens.com/global/en.html)
will provide the on-route chargers. As a result will demonstrate the performance
of the overhead electric bus charging system. Then furthermore enable future mass
deployments.

To date, the Government of Canada has invested $182.5 million to support the deployment
of electric chargers. Including  the development of codes and standards for low-
carbon vehicles.  Therefore including refueling infrastructure.

Through Canada’s national energy dialogue, [Generation Energy](https://www.nrcan.gc.ca/climate-change/canadas-green-future/generation-energy/20093),
Canadians made it clear that the transition to energy independence through the combined
efforts of federal, provincial and territorial governments is a necessity for advancing
toward a low-carbon future.

    the Pan-Canadian Electric [Bus](https://greenlivingguy.com/2026/06/caterpillar-bepu-electric-simplifies-the-transition-process/)
Demonstration and Integration Trial was launched at TransLink in Vancouver in April
2018 as part of a national coordinated effort to advance zero-emissions transit
    technology.

 1. The funding for Brampton’s participation in Phase 1 of the CUTRIC Pan-Canadian
Electric Bus Demonstration and Integration Trial, subject to funding agreements,
will be administered through Natural Resources Canada using a portion of Ontario’s
Low Carbon Economy Leadership Fund allocation.
 2. Natural Resources Canada’s Green Infrastructure Program is key to building our
clean growth economy, helping accelerate the deployment and market entry of next-
generation clean energy infrastructure, including electric vehicle infrastructure
    demonstrations.
