## First of all, here’s two ways to help with reforestation.

We need more planted trees. As [The Independent](https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/asia/philippines-tree-planting-students-graduation-law-environment-a8932576.html)
reports The [Philippines](https://www.independent.co.uk/topic/Philippines)’ Magdalo
Party representative Gary Alejano wants to have students graduating [to help](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/03/understanding-the-wwf-april-sustainable-forest-policy/)
with reforestation.

That’s elementary school 12 million, 5 million from High School and over 500,000
graduating college can help with reforestation! With resources and passion flowing
from these young minds, we can not only plant trees but also educate communities
on sustainable practices. Engaging students in hands-on projects fosters their understanding
of the ecosystem. Together, they can create a ripple effect, inspiring others to
join the movement. By harnessing the energy of these graduates, we can revitalize
our planet. This will combat climate change and ensure a greener future for generations
to come.

#### Serious Initiative

So this initiative, if [properly implemented, can ensure around](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/03/understanding-the-wwf-april-sustainable-forest-policy/)
175 million new trees. I mean that would be planted each year.

“In the course of one generation, this initiative plants no less than 525 billion
trees,” Mr. Alejano states in the bill’s explanatory note. This monumental effort
not only focuses on reforestation; it represents a comprehensive strategy that actively
combats climate change, enhances biodiversity, and restores ecosystems that have
degraded over time. Each tree we plant contributes to cleaner air, improved soil
quality, and a more sustainable habitat for countless species, fostering a healthier
planet for future generations. The initiative underscores the importance of collective
action, encouraging communities, governments, and organizations to collaborate in
this ambitious endeavor to create a greener, more resilient world.

Then in the [Daily Mail](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7099537/Brazilian-couple-spends-20-years-planting-trees-barren-ranch-create-paradise-animals.html),
they reported on [Brazilian](https://greenlivingguy.com/2019/07/deforestation-in-brazil-has-rocketed-since-bolsonaro-became-president/)
photojournalist Sebastião Ribeiro Salgado and his wife Lélia Deluiz Wanick Salgado.
For they have spent the last 20 years planting an 1,750-acre forest. They aimed
to transform a barren plot of land in [Brazil](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/brazil/index.html)‘
s Minas Gerais state into a tropical paradise.

A dramatic comparison of a barren landscape in 2001 and a lush, thriving forest
in 2019, showcasing successful reforestation efforts.

Then the Daily Mail reports about the Brazilian photographer Sebastião Salgado and
wife Lélia. They have replanted an entire forest over the last 20 years in the Amazon.
That’s reforestation!

In addition, just look at these photos. They reveal the [incredible transformation](https://greenlivingguy.com/2025/10/tree-planting-mission-join-the-global-movement/)
from a desolate and barren plot of land to a lush and lively forest. For when he
returned from reporting in Rwanda in 1994, Salgado was shocked. All to find his
family’s old cattle ranch completely destroyed by deforestation.

### Planting Seedlings

So he and his wife started planting [seedlings](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/03/td-green-streets-grants-building-urban-green-forests/)
in 1998. Then they rejuvenated the forest with millions over two decades. For it
is now ‘a fertile woodland. All alive with flora and fauna’ to which ‘all the insects
and birds and fish returned’.

In addition, nearly 300 [species of trees](https://greenlivingguy.com/2025/11/rare-tree-species-and-their-environmental-impact/),
more than 170 species of birds, 30 species of mammals, and 15 species of amphibians
and reptiles now call the area home.

That’s ALL from planting locally needing tree seedlings. This process involves sourcing
the right varieties and understanding optimal planting conditions. Moreover, it’s
crucial to care for those trees to help them thrive in their environment. The importance
of local tree seedlings cannot be overstated. They contribute to biodiversity, enhance
soil quality, and provide essential habitats for various wildlife species. Local
seedlings help combat climate change by absorbing carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.
By prioritizing local sources, we ensure that the plants adapt well to regional
climates and soils. This allows for a more successful growth rate and sustainability
in our efforts. Thus, we enhance green spaces in our communities.
