However, the product that’s gotten all the users genuinely excited is none other than weed honey oil.

Not exactly honey and not exactly an oil, weed honey oil is the hottest cannabis product on the market. It’s potent, incredibly fun to use, and best of all. I mean you can make it yourself with relative ease.

Let’s dive deeper into the world of honey oil and see how you can make it at home.

Weed Honey Oil – What Is It, and How Should You Use It?

First thing’s first – what even is weed honey oil? No, it’s not cannabis-infused honey (although that’s a delicious treat that you can also make yourself. Moreover, you’ll likely be disappointed if you take a spoonful of it – it’s earthy and bitter, so it will probably trigger your gag reflex.

Weed honey oil is just another term for hash oil, aka the cannabis substance you need for making wax and dabs. It’s a concentrated form of cannabis that’s packed with all the cannabinoids, flavonoids, and terpenes you could ever want. You get it by using cannabis leaves, buds, and stems, without wasting any part of the plant.

You’ll need to take your cannabis through a lengthy and precise extraction method, and you’ll be rewarded with gorgeous, thick, deep amber, gooey goodness that resembles honey, hence the name.

Once you have your honey oil, you can leave it to dry to get shatters or wax that you’ll use for dabbing.

Why Use Weed Honey Oil?

Since you have access to such a vast array of cannabis products, you might be wondering whether using weed honey oil is worth it? After all, if you’re making it at home, you need to carefully extract your cannabis and learn how to use the shatters and wax properly. Isn’t it easier to just get pre-rolled joints or a vape pen and some weed e-liquid, then move on with your life?

Sure, it is easier, but the experiences are incomparable.

When using vape pens, pre-rolled joints, and similar products, you’re only getting about 20% THC – if you’re lucky. It’s enough to give you a slight buzz, but it won’t give you the full cannabis experience.

As mentioned, weed honey oil is a highly concentrated form of pure cannabis. It’s packed with every cannabinoid, terpene, and flavonoid that this plant offers. When you make it right, you can end up with a highly potent product. That’s with anywhere from 70% to 90% THC. It goes without saying that this product is not for newcomers or inexperienced users.

How to Make Weed Honey Oil at Home

Weed honey oil

If you want to give weed honey oil a try, you can easily find it at most cannabis dispensaries, but where’s the fun in that? Take a look below to learn how to make honey oil at home and get a pure product you’ll fall in love with.

Decarb Your Weed First

If you’re using raw flowers to make weed honey oil, you’ll first need to decarb your cannabis. Decarboxylation essentially activates cannabis and makes all its compounds more potent.

In its raw form, cannabis doesn’t actually have THC or CBD. Instead, it has the acidic THCA and CBDA, which are non-psychoactive and non-fun.

To transform THCA or CBDS into THC or CBD, you only need to apply some heat. Break up your dry flower into small chunks (but don’t ground it), place it on a baking sheet, then put in the oven preheated to 230-250°F. Bake it for about 45 minutes, and done.

Alcohol Extraction for weed honey oil

With your decarbed weed, you can start making honey oil. You’ll need:

  • 7 grams of buds;
  • 74 milliliters of ethanol (or isopropyl alcohol);
  • Two mason jars;
  • Coffee filters.

Place your 7 grams of cannabis into a mason jar, seal tightly, then place in the freezer. Take the second jar, fill it with either ethanol or isopropyl alcohol, then place it in the freezer, as well. Once the alcohol reaches -62°F, pour it into the first mason jar where your cold dried cannabis is, then let the mixture rest for up to 12 hours.

Once you’ve let it rest, use a coffee filter to carefully drain out the liquid into another jar without letting any plant matter escape. Put the filtered liquid aside for up to 48 hours to let all the alcohol evaporate from it.

Alternatively, you can put the mixture into a double-boiler and heat it until all the alcohol evaporates. You’ll be left with a deep amber-colored goo that’s ready to be transformed into a shatter or dab.

Dab, dab, dab, and make your experience fab with weed honey oil

Once you get your weed honey oil, you can smoke it using a pipe, vaporize it, place a few drops of it into your bong, or even drizzle it over your favorite food. Try it out, and you’ll never want to use anything other than weed honey oil again!
