The Niro Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) arrives for the 2022 model year wearing new Kia badging on the front grille.  Then on the tailgate, steering wheel hub and wheel center caps.  The people at Kia stated the Niro PHEV continues to deliver an EPA-estimated 26 miles of all-electric range on a single charge.  So I got more than that beforehand.  It also remains eligible for the $4,543 Federal tax credit along with any applicable state and local incentives, depending on location of purchase.

As I wrote a while ago after my first impressions of the 2018 Winter test of the Kia Niro Plug-in Hybrid electric car. I stared with: “All good”. By the way and for the record. These long-term tests are way better car companies. That’s cause I get more accurate readings on MPG here. It’s all about refreshing the batteries. That’s recharging the Niro plug-in Hybrid while driving in SPORT mode. Yes to recharging in the winter and getting from zero all the way up to 32 Miles.

So by doing this the first tank, the average was 62 miles per gallon (MPG).

The second tank is closer to 69 and 70 MPG. Also every day and night I also recharge the car. This is in colder weather too.

That’s combined MPG just driving and charging and staying in ECO. Go into Sport when need be and to even recharge the battery while driving.
