Living Guy wants you all to recycle and also be saving money. One stat was we don’t
recycle 67 Million of the 267 Million tons of [plastic](https://greenlivingguy.com/2019/11/how-to-use-smartphone-app-energy-recycle/)
annually. Yet [recycling will help keep plastic](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/04/going-green-includes-polystyrene-foam-recycling/)
costs down. Again saving money. In Europe, the bounty for plastics is $.25.  Whereas
in the USA it’s only $.05. So there’s a disconnect. This is about saving money.

##### NYC

New York City residents currently recycle only about **17% of their total waste**–
half of what they could be recycling under the current program. 7.5% of our waste
stream consists of plastic film such as supermarket bags. Clothing and textiles 
make up 5.7% of our waste.
