and reducing its Scope 3 (value chain) emissions. By taking this action, Sustana
is also making a commitment. Especially to reduce its impact on the [environment](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/07/step-forward-paper-now-available-in-the-u-s-exclusively-at-staples/).
All the while also helping to reach the Paris Agreement’s goal.  That’s of keeping
global warming below 2°C.

#### Science Based Targets

The Science Based Targets initiative was created in 2015.  All to [help companies set emissions](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/03/greenspun-green-media-leading-the-way-in-sustainability/)
reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. The SBTi is an independent
body. One comprised of organizations such as the World Resources Institute, CDP,
and the United Nations Global Compact. The initiative provides a framework. That’s
especially for companies to set emissions [reduction targets](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/03/greenspun-green-media-leading-the-way-in-sustainability/).
All in line with the most recent climate science.

#### GHG Emissions Reduction

In order to meet its GHG emissions reduction target, Sustana is taking a comprehensive
approach. One that includes reducing energy use. I mean as we are transitioning
to renewable energy sources. Especially with reducing [waste](https://greenlivingguy.com/2021/03/waste-recycling-trends-to-watch-in-2020/)
and water use. The company is also investing in research and development. Most importantly
to create more efficient processes and materials.

#### Partners

Sustana has also partnered with several organizations to develop and implement programs
that will help the company reach its goals. The company has partnered with the World
Wildlife Fund. All to create a carbon neutrality roadmap. One that also includes
measuring, reducing, and offsetting emissions. Sustana has also partnered with the
Environmental Defense Fund and the Natural Resources Defense Council. That’s also
to develop a water conservation roadmap.

In addition, Sustana is also working with the Climate Leadership Council to develop
a framework that will enable the company to measure and report on its emissions.
This framework will include tracking emissions at the facility, product, and [supply chain levels](https://greenlivingguy.com/2023/09/lenzig-group-supply-chain-transparency-next-level/).
The data collected will be used to create [emissions reduction strategies](https://greenlivingguy.com/2023/03/net-zero-emissions-strategies-for-success/)
and monitor progress.

### Science Based Targets

In conclusion, the Science Based Targets initiative has recognized Sustana’s commitment
to reducing its emissions. In addition, it has approved the company’s near-term
GHG emissions reduction target. This is an important step forward. Especially in
Sustana’s efforts to reduce its impact on the environment and to help reach the
