## Trump War on Wind Energy

President [Donald](https://greenlivingguy.com/2019/03/the-trump-budget-a-deep-dive-into-environmental-regulations/)
Trump once again waged his war on wind energy. For Trump waged war and [launched air aerial assault](https://greenlivingguy.com/2025/08/wind-energy-eagle-detection-reduces-collision-risks/)
on wind turbines and green tax credits. On June 21, 2025, he took to Truth Social
to blast renewable energy incentives. He called them a “giant SCAM” and claimed
he “HATED” the green provisions tucked inside what he once supported—the so-called“
Big, Beautiful Bill.” Despite [initially championing parts](https://greenlivingguy.com/2012/04/epa-green-power-partners-top-50-organizations/)
of the bill, Trump now wants to strip it of its clean energy funding.

## Green Energy in His Crosshairs

Trump [didn’t hold back](https://greenlivingguy.com/2020/04/epa-changes-will-affect-car-industry-plus-economy-more-than-california/).
He specifically targeted wind turbines, repeating false claims they kill large numbers
of birds. He also slammed their appearance, calling them “ugly.” Over the years,
Trump has made [wind energy a favorite](https://greenlivingguy.com/2025/08/clean-energy-legislation-key-changes-explained/)
punching bag. But this time, he escalated things by directly calling for an end
to [clean energy tax breaks](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/07/china-might-be-winning-the-race-to-reduce-solar-costs/).

### Republicans Back Rollback Efforts

> This attack didn’t come in isolation. It aligns with Republican efforts in Congress
> to roll back key parts of the [Inflation Reduction Act](https://greenlivingguy.com/2022/11/inflation-reduction-act-epa-is-looking-for-input-on-multiple-programs/).
> The new proposal, known as the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act,” aims to phase out
> clean energy tax credits for wind, solar, [electric vehicles](https://greenlivingguy.com/2024/09/electric-vehicle-safety-navigating-the-challenges-of-hurricane-helene/),
> and energy-efficient homes. Republicans argue the cuts will reduce spending and
> restore fiscal order. However, many see it as a direct hit to climate progress.

### Experts Warn of Consequences

Economists and [clean energy leaders](https://greenlivingguy.com/2016/12/green-city-lifestyle-choices-for-a-better-planet/)
quickly responded. They warned the rollback could jeopardize over $500 billion in
future investment. At the same time, industry groups said it might threaten 830,000
jobs by 2030. Some experts fear the U.S. will fall behind in [global clean energy](https://greenlivingguy.com/2017/12/making-green-happen-through-economics-of-sustainability/)
innovation. Others say power [bills could rise if renewable](https://greenlivingguy.com/2025/07/trumps-energy-bill-slashes-ev-and-renewable-incentives/)
projects are canceled or delayed.

### Trump War on Wind Energy Promises to Defund Renewables

Trump’s post ended with a vow to defund what he called “wasteful” green programs.
Although he did not detail a replacement, his message was clear. If re-elected,
he plans to halt public investment in [renewable energy](https://greenlivingguy.com/2011/11/bay-city-green-infrastructure-managing-stormwater-efficiently/).
His campaign increasingly [targets climate policies passed during the Biden administration](https://greenlivingguy.com/2025/07/climate-deniers-to-destroy-the-endangerment-finding/).

### The Stakes for Climate and Economy

Since 2022, green tax credits have fueled rapid expansion in wind and [solar](https://greenlivingguy.com/2019/04/this-earth-day-college-students-across-the-country-will-crowdfund-solar-for-nonprofits-in-ca-oh-sc-wi/).
They also helped boost domestic manufacturing and lower emissions. But Trump’s plan
could reverse that momentum. Many environmental groups now say the upcoming election
may decide the future of America’s [clean energy](https://greenlivingguy.com/2014/08/asmo-charger-revolutionizing-mobile-charging/)
path.

Although Trump’s war on wind energy is not new, it carries weight after passage
of the Big Bill. As his [party moves to dismantle green](https://greenlivingguy.com/2010/10/earth911-com-nyc-launch-party-gives-away-green-lighting-book/)
funding, the nation faces a stark choice. Should it press forward with renewables—
or return to [fossil fuel dependence](https://greenlivingguy.com/2021/12/reduce-your-dependence-home-fuel-three-tips/)?
