(Bloomberg) — Hitachi Zosen Corp. and nine other companies plan to build a 220-megawatt offshore wind farm in northwestern Japan.
In addition, the companies will also build the station off the coast of Murakami city in Niigata prefecture. For the city said in a faxed statement.
Construction will also start in April 2020. Moreover, financial terms weren’t provided.
The Nikkei newspaper reported today that the project will cost about 100 billion yen ($852 million).
Just announced a 125-pylon offshore wind farm of 300 megawatts capacity in the Baltic sea for the Swedish energy provider, Vattenfall.
The project is expected to be operational by around 2020 and will be located in the German-Danish block, North Sea. Vattenfall is investing $2.2 billion in the project and Hitachi Zosen are responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction and installation of the turbines.
Japan introduced an incentive program for clean energy in July 2012 to boost the use of solar, wind, geothermal, biomass and small hydro power.
Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. and Mitsubishi Corp. will be among the companies taking part in the project, according to the statement.
