Reasons

There are 3 reasons why conventional cotton bedding is dangerous:

WE’RE SLEEPING ON PESTICIDES

Cotton accounts for 25% of the world’s pesticide use. That’s including 3 of the chemicals that are most hazardous. I mean to human health. For they are aldicarb, parathion, and methamidophos. These toxic chemicals hurt the workers and farm communities. Especially where the cotton is grown. Thereby making their way into poisoning water supplies. Moreover and then possibly into your bed.

SWEET DREAMS OF HARMFUL DYES AND FORMALDEHYDE

Conventional cotton sheets are colored with toxic dyes. All that can rub off on skin. The permanent press finishes that are applied to conventional cotton sheets release formaldehyde. Now that’s been associated with skin irritation and breathing problems.

Conventional cotton is grown from GMO seeds. That’s meaning they’ve been genetically modified from their natural state. The negative effects of changes to a crop’s toxic and allergenic properties. As well as crop yields are largely unknown. GMO seeds can also be extremely costly to farmers. For they not yield the return. But they were promised leaving them in a great deal of debt.

Back in Sept 28, 2006 With India’s indebted cotton farmers. Those taking their own lives in ever increasing numbers. Consequently after being ruined by expensive Bt seeds and other input costs. By seeds that are GMO. Also and heavily laden with pesticide courtesy of Monsanto. So here’s an eye catching study. Especially on organic cotton production in India.

Over a period of two years. It seems an Indo-Swiss research team collected and compared agronomic data. That’s on 60 organic and conventional farms.
