It represents a significant step towards reducing emissions and promoting environmentally conscious driving.

The five-seater features high-efficiency lithium-ion batteries. These batteries deliver an impressive range of over 200 km on a single charge. This technology ensures optimal performance and enhances sustainability. As a result, drivers can enjoy longer journeys without frequent recharging. It makes this vehicle ideal for daily commuters and weekend adventurers alike. Additionally, the design emphasizes comfort and practicality. It perfectly accommodates families and groups of friends. The car is powered with a peak output of 95 hp, developing an impressive high torque of 290 Nm, which ensures swift acceleration and a thrilling driving experience. Fall 2010 they started building them in Rastatt and will be leased to “selected customers in several European countries, including Germany, France and the Netherlands.”

From writing the book Build Your Own Electric Vehicle, I am aware that Mercedes has accumulated extensive experience and knowhow in the area of electric vehicles. This knowhow has already provided the basis for getting two electric cars for everyday use onto the road: the smart fortwo electric drive.

The electric drive of the A-Class E-CELL delivers a peak output of 70 kW (95 hp), a continuous power rating of 50 kW (68 hp) and a high maximum torque of 290 Nm. That’s as expected for an electric drive. Because it’s available right from the first revolution. This robust performance enables the A-Class E-CELL to not only excel in urban settings but also navigate swiftly on highways, ensuring a smooth and exhilarating driving experience. Given these features, the A-Class E-CELL is an outstandingly assured and dynamic performer on the road.

Clearly, this vehicle is seamlessly combining efficiency with power. It takes just 5.5 seconds to accelerate from zero to 60 km/h, showcasing its impressive responsiveness and capability. Maximum speed is electronically set at 150 km/h, making it suitable for both daily commutes and longer journeys, all while maintaining a level of sustainability that meets modern ecological standards. The innovative engineering behind this electric vehicle not only emphasizes speed and agility but also prioritizes an eco-friendly footprint, appealing to environmentally conscious drivers.

Daimler and a number of other European automakers and energy utilities have agreed on standardised charging plugs and sockets, with an ultimate aim of worldwide standardisation. Consequently, this makes the technology more customer-friendly. It is seen as a key prerequisite for the rapid spread of electric mobility.

Intelligent charging management – Green Living Everywhere!!

The A-Class E-CELL leads its class with an intelligent charging management system called “SmartCharge Communication.” It offers a convenient, simple, and reliable billing system. The car features pre-start climate control as well. While charging at home or on the road, it can pre-heat or cool the interior to the driver’s preferred temperature. Additionally, the driver can monitor charging progress and the available range via the internet or smartphone.

So, if the electric car parks for a long time, users can recharge it when electricity is cheaper, such as at night. The intelligent interface in the A-Class E-CELL offers billing, control, and monitoring functions. This setup makes electric mobility convenient and safe. It is very customer-friendly. The vehicle automatically immobilizes when the user connects the charging cable. This prevents any accidental driving while charging. Overall, it enhances the safety and convenience of the recharging process.
